Extension of Program of Study
When to apply: If you are approaching the expiration date on your
I-20, you must file for a program extension.
What you need to do:
- Show ISSS updated proof of your funding.
- Give ISSS a letter from your academic advisor indicating that you
are making normal progress toward your degree and giving an estimated
completion date.
What ISSS will do:
- Update your SEVIS record and give you a new I-20 for continued attendance,
indicating a program extension.
IMPORTANT:
- Practical training is not part of the expected completion date.
- If you do not qualify for program extension, you will need to see
an international student advisor for information about how to apply
for reinstatement.
