Housing Options
On campus or off, Boulder is a great place to call home. As a CU-Boulder student, you have a variety of housing options available to you, from on-campus housing arrangements, to Bear Creek Apartments near Williams Village, to rooms, apartments, and houses in the surrounding area.
Residence Halls
CU-Boulder residence halls currently provide space for approximately 5,700 single, enrolled students. All 21 residence halls are coed though arrangements vary by location.
Most of the accommodations are double occupancy, with a few single occupancy rooms, three- and four-student rooms, and suites.
After their freshman year most students live off campus in apartments, but when space is available upper division students can apply to live in the residence halls as well. First-year students (freshmen) are required to live on campus and therefore are given priority in the residence halls.
Current CU students and transfer students interested in the residence halls can apply to live on campus and if accepted will be put on a waitlist in case space is available after the first year students (freshmen) are assigned housing.
If first-year students (freshmen) are married or live with parents/legal guardians and wish to commute from home they may petition to do so. Request for permission to reside off-campus for other reasons are considered on their own merit, taking into account individual circumstances. Petitions should be filed with the reservations manager before applying for housing.
All residence hall room assignments are managed by the Reservation Center. You are welcome to contact them with any questions you may have about the halls or living environments.

For families, married couples, and single parents, the university maintains furnished and unfurnished one-, two-, or three-bedroom apartments a short walk from campus. A limited number of efficiency or studio apartments are available to single graduate students who are 21 or older. Prices here are less expensive than in the Boulder community. Eligible applicants must be registered as full time students. Only students and members of their immediate families may reside here. These apartment complexes offer onsite laundry facilities, playgrounds, and access to the day care center for housing residents. Nearby shopping is accessible by walking or city bus.

Off-Campus Housing Alternatives
Many upper-division and transfer students live off campus in apartments and houses throughout Boulder and its surrounding areas. This can be a wonderful experience but it can be hard to find the right place to live and the right people to live with. Off-Campus Student Services is a free service for fee-paying CU-Boulder students and has a variety of resources to assist students with their housing needs. OCSS maintains a rental housing database of available houses, apartments, rooms, located within Boulder and the surrounding communities as well as a list of people seeking roommates. Additionally OCSS has information on tenants rights and responsibilities and an on site attorney who can provide fee lease reviews and answer any landlord/tenant questions.
