Boulder offers a lot of exciting recreational and entertainment opportunities, including live concerts, recreational activities, film festivals, and celebrations. Here are some highlights:
- The Bolder Boulder 10k foot race, held each Memorial Day, is an enormously popular event with local citizens and world-class athletes alike. www.bolderboulder.com
- The Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse is a gift from Boulder's sister city, Dushanbe, Tajikistan, and is the only one of its kind in the Western Hemisphere. Handcrafted by over 40 Tajik artisans, the teahouse is a feast for the eyes with its vibrant colors, patterns, and furnishings. - The Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMoCA) has ever-changing exhibits and performances. www.bmoca.org

- The Boulder Theater and Fox Theatre host regular live music performances, many of which are all-ages shows. Boulder bands like The Samples and Big Head Todd and the Monsters have landed national record contracts. Look for your favorite local bands at clubs.

- The Colorado Shakespeare Festival has performed every summer on the CU-Boulder campus for 50 years. If you haven't yet experienced Shakespeare at night in the historic Mary Rippon Theatre, this is a must. www.coloradoshakes.org
- The publicly funded Community Access Television (CATV) offers low-cost access to camcorders, studios, and editing facilities for noncommercial programs to be shown on channel 54 and is available to any resident of Boulder. www.commtv.org
- The Dairy Center for the Arts features music, dance, and theatre performances. It also offers a multitude of classes for both children and adults. www.thedairy.org
- The Kinetic Sculpture Challenge (Kinetics) is held each spring at the Boulder Reservoir, where contestants build and race their own human-powered movable sculptures over land and water. Don't miss the parade prior to the event, which takes place on the Pearl Street Mall.
- The Pearl Street Mall is a great place to shop and enjoy many cafés and restaurants. Street vendors offer quick snacks, and a variety of street entertainers—such as contortionists, magicians, or the Zip Code Guy—will delight you.
