Law Library Policies
Food and Drink
Tidy snacks, like those found in the law school vending machines, that can be eaten quietly are allowed in the library. To prevent vermin infestation, please take any wrappers and/or crumbs out of the library to the trash can in the lobby. If you are eating a meal like pizza, salad, soup or anything that requires utensils, please use the student commons/cafe. Library staff are the sole arbiters of acceptable snacks.
Non-alcoholic beverages are allowed in the Library. The beverages must be in a covered container.
Cell Phones
Cell phone use is NOT permitted in the Law Library except in the Arraj Reading Room on the first floor. Please turn the phone ringer off, and leave the Library if you must make or receive a call.
Quiet Policy
Patrons are expected to be reasonably quiet. Group study rooms are available for students who need to study together, conduct extended conversations, etc. Rooms may only be occupied by groups. Groups that have signed up to use a room have priority on that room.
Library users are expected to first ask any person disturbing them to refrain. If the behavior doesn't stop, the incident should be reported to the Reference Desk (if open) or the Circulation Desk. The Reference/Circulation staffer will warn the person that continued complaints will result in a call to Campus Security. After the initial warning, patrons who continue to cause a disturbance will be asked to leave the Law Library or face removal by Campus Security.
Reshelving
We request that all library patrons reshelve the books they have used. If you need assistance, please ask.
