Internship and Career Office

The school’s Internship and Career Office is in the Student Resource Center, Armory 1B11. It fields local and national job and internship opportunities through its contacts with employers. The office also assists students and graduates by offering one-on-one career strategy sessions and a series of workshops on resume preparation, interviewing and career planning.
Read more about Career Series Events.

Services of the Internship and Career Office are available to:

  • Graduates of the program.
  • Students admitted as undergraduates to Advertising, Broadcast News, Broadcast Production, News-Editorial and Media Studies sequences.
  • Master’s students admitted to the Newsgathering and Mass Communication Research graduate programs.

Students can obtain the school’s guide to writing resumes and cover letters for media jobs and check out books on resumes, cover letters and other career-related subjects.

The Internship and Career Office contains national and local directories of newspapers, magazines, trade publications, advertising and public relations agencies and broadcast outlets. Computers are available for job and internship searches.

Colorado newspapers, magazines and media trade publications are available in the office and outside Armory 1B01. Job and internship information is posted on bulletin boards outside Armory 1B01.

Many graduates of the school donate their time and energy to the school’s rapidly expanding Career Network. Through the network, these alumni provide students with advice, internships and contacts.

Getting Experience on Campus
Media internship employers often prefer students who have had experience with the Campus Press, KVCU-AM, CU Sports Magazine, a weekly campus television show; and at other campus media.

Campus media not affiliated with the school include Colorado Engineer Magazine, a publication of the CU College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Students also gain experience at the CU Athletic Media Relations office and at other media offices on campus.
