Jonathan Wanderstock takes over
as School’s director of development

By Heather Kenny

On July 1, Jonathan Wanderstock assumed duties as development director for the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. He came to Boulder from Springfield, Mass., where he worked for the last two years as a fund-raiser for Springfield College.

As Springfield's assistant director of the Annual Fund, he worked closely with fund-raising volunteers, designed long-range strategic plans for the Annual Fund Program and assisted with the student-driven telemarketing effort, including recruiting and training student callers.

Earlier in his career, Wanderstock worked at United Way for Cortland County in upstate New York and implemented a comprehensive public relations program.

He earned two bachelor’s degrees, in Public Communications and Management from Syracuse University in 1982 and a master's degree in sports administration from Pennsylvania State University in 1992.

As the primary fund-raiser for the School, Wanderstock said he looks to alumni, corporations, foundations and friends of the School for their support of academic programs, faculty and students.

These projects range from annual donations of subscriptions for scholarly journals to major gifts for scholarships and improvements to media labs.
