Service meets needs somewhat or well:

  • IT Service Center--69%

  • Departmental IT Professional--50%

Most important educational technology need: people to support faculty technology users (56% of respondents).

Faculty requests for technology-enhanced classrooms are met (error due to one duplicated response):

  • always--13%
  • most of the time--56%
  • sometimes or rarely--37%

Other responses included:

  • The capability to have live (video/web) conference with remote sites is more important for research than for teaching; this capability was viewed as neutral or somewhat unimportant for teaching (62%) and neutral or somewhat important for research (62%).
  • 50% report that file sharing needs are met by a departmental server (1/3 did not respond to this question).
  • There was not a strong feeling one way or the other about a central facility for instructional media support. 44% responded that their faculty would be likely or very likely to use such a facility, 25% indicated that their faculty would be unlikely or highly unlikely to use one.
  • Assistive technology needs are diverse and have not been carefully assessed in many cases.
  • Improving support for faculty use of technology was the most frequent suggestion for improving the campus's information technology environment.
