Please read the ITS Wireless Deployment and Management Policy online at www.colorado.edu/its/docs/policies/wireless.html. This policy was approved by the Information Technology Council on January 10, 2002.

Excerpt from the ITS Wireless Deployment and Management Policy:

To ensure the technical coordination required to provide the best possible wireless network for the University of Colorado at Boulder (CU-Boulder), the campus' Information Technology Services (ITS) will be solely responsible for the deployment and management of 802.11 and related wireless standards access points on the campus. No other departments may deploy 802.11 or related wireless standards access points without coordination with ITS. [Read More]

Wireless in the Residence Halls

Setting up personal Wireless Access Points in the residence halls is strictly prohibited. All of the residence halls on main campus have wired networking available in each room, which is faster and more secure than existing wireless network options. Many also have UCB Wireless.
