Overview
Identity Manager - https://cuidm.colorado.edu
ITS provides a web-based program called Identity Manager that allows you to manage your IdentiKey, along with other aspects of your online identity. Identity Manager can be accessed at https://cuidm.colorado.edu.

Students
IdentiKeys are created when you are accepted to the University
of Colorado at Boulder. After being accepted, you can activate your IdentiKey
by following the instructions below.
Faculty/Staff
When your information is entered into the payroll system, your IdentiKey will be set for creation. This process may take up to 48 hours. To activate your IdentiKey see the instructions below. If you cannot activate your account, ask your payroll liaison to check on your entry.
Groups, Sponsored, or Retirees
To request your IdentiKey, contact the IT Service Center at 303-735-4357
(5-HELP from an on-campus phone).
Conferences
- Conferences hosted at CU-Boulder can apply for a conference IdentiKey. This single username and password can be given to all attendees to access UCB Wireless and other IdentiKey related services.
- Request a conference IdentiKey
- You must be a faculty or staff member at CU-Boulder.
- Send an e-mail to help@colorado.edu with the following information:
- Name of conference
- Duration of conference
- The request may take one business day to process.
- You will receive an e-mail from the IT Service Center with the IdentiKey information, which you can distribute to conference attendees.
- The conference IdentiKey will only be active for the duration of the conference.
- The conference IdentiKey sponsor is the only person who make changes to the account, using Identity Manager.
- If the conference you are sponsoring happens routinely, the CU Login Name can be reactivated, which you will have to request.

IdentiKey passwords must meet the following requirements:
- Must be at least 10 characters long
- Must include at least 3 character classes (alpha, numeric, symbols)
- Cannot contain your CU Login Name
- Cannot contain your first or last name
- Cannot contain 3 or more contiguously repeated characters (a password with the string 'aaa' will not be allowed)
- Cannot contain the following characters: tab, space, double-quote (“), colon (:)

1. Go to https://cuidm.colorado.edu and click on the Activate Your IdentiKey button.
2. Read through the policy and check mark the box at the mark to certify that you've read through and agree to the policy. Then click on the Continue button.
3. In the next menu, select your affiliation: Student, Faculty/Staff, or Sponsored Affiliate.
4. Enter your personal information and click Continue.
Note: International students that don't have social security numbers can enter a PIN number in the designated field to authenticate. If you don't know your PIN number, contact the Registrars office.
5. Once authenticated, you will be prompted to answer a set of authentication questions. Select at least three questions to answer. If you ever need to reset your IdentiKey password, you will be prompted to answer these questions as part of the authentication process.
6. After you've provided answers to at least three authentication questions, click on the Continue button.
7. Next, you will be prompted to set a password for your account. Pay close attention to the password requirements on the page. If unsuccessful, you will be asked to try again.
8. Once you've set a password that meets the requirements, your account will be activated and your CU Login Name will be displayed. Write this down and then click on the Continue button.
9. You will be returned to the login page. Now you can log in to Identity Manager to set your display name, outgoing address, etc.
10. Your CU Login Name and IdentiKey password should now be active. Return to Identity Manager to change passwords or adjust your online identity in the future.
After your IdentiKey has been activated, you should be able to access IdentiKey services such as CUConnect, CULearn, CULink, and ITS computer labs.

1. To activate a secondary account, like a group account or conference IdentiKey, the primary account holder must log in to https://cuidm.colorado.edu with their personal CU Login Name and IdentiKey password.
2. Once logged in, click on the Activate My Secondary Account(s) link from the main menu.
3. In the next menu, click on the drop-down menu to select the secondary account you want to activate. Note: list proc accounts (i.e. yourlist@lists.colorado.edu) do not need to be activated, so do not select them.
4. Read through the policy and check mark the agreement box. Then click on the Continue button.
5. Next, you will be prompted to answer a set of authentication questions. Select at least three questions to answer. If you ever need to reset the secondary account's IdentiKey password, you will be prompted to answer these questions as part of the authentication process.
6. After you've provided answers to at least three authentication questions, click on the Continue button.
7. Next, you will be prompted to set a password for the secondary account. Pay close attention to the password requirements on the page. If unsuccessful, you will be asked to try again.
8. Once you've set a password that meets the requirements, your account will be activated. Click the Continue button. You will be returned to the main menu.
9. Once activated, you will log in to Identity Manager directly with your secondary account to perform account adjustments.

1. Go to https://cuidm.colorado.edu and log in with your CU Login Name and IdentiKey password.
Note: If this is the first time you've ever logged in to Identity Manager you will be prompted to set authentication questions. Select and answer at least three and click Save.
2. Click on the Change My IdentiKey Password link.
3. Review the password requirements listed on the page and set a new password for your IdentiKey. Then click on the Continue button.
4. Once you've set a password that meets the requirements, click on the OK button to return to the main menu.

- ITS Active Directory (AD) accounts are now automatically synchronized with IdentiKeys.
- The "ADSync" tool has been disabled and is no longer required.
- This means that if you ever change your IdentiKey password, your AD password will automatically change too.
- AD account passwords can no longer be changed with the CTL-ALT-DEL function on Windows login screens.
