>> Employment Opportunity - Compliance Specialist
Position, Colorado Community College System. The Colorado
Community College Systemis the states largest system
of higher education, comprising 13 state community colleges,
career/technical programs in more than 150 school districts,
and program oversight for seven other post secondary institutions.
Each college offers a blend of core courses for the university-bound
as well as career programs that meet local employers
needs. Our high school programs are designed to increase
the number of qualified entry-level and skilled workers
for the Colorado economy. Altogether, we serve over 117,000
for-credit students per year. CCCOnline also serves secondary
and continuing-ed constituents, increasing the total number

will work closely with the Senior Compliance Coordinator
to monitor grant subrecipients for grants administered through
the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational
Education. This position will require travel to school districts
and colleges throughout the State of Colorado, and reports

- Program Assistant: Education/PREAL. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the Washington-based Co-Director and education staff
in carrying out the program activities of the Partnership
for Educational Revitalization (PREAL), a hemisphere-wide
partnership of public and private sector organizations working
for educational reform that is jointly managed by the Inter-American
Dialogue and the Center for Development Research (CINDE)
in Santiago, Chile. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in
the social sciences; familiarity with issues in education
and developing countries is an advantage; experience (1
year preferred) living and/or working in Latin America.
Fluency in Spanish and English; Portuguese a plus. Strong
conceptual, oral and written communication skills and attention
to detail. Proficiency with common computer software packages
for word processing, databases, and spreadsheets.
The Inter-American Dialogue is Washington's leading forum
for exchange among opinion leaders of the Western Hemisphere,
and an independent, nonpartisan center for policy analysis
on economic and political relations in the Americas. Its
100 members from the United States, Canada and Latin America
include former presidents, prominent political, business,
labor, academic, media, military and religious leaders.

Please join Study Abroad Programs for one or both of
our special summer information sessions. Each set will
consist of "CU Abroad 101" and "Affording
Study Abroad," and you may attend one or both of these.
If you have not yet begun researching or planning for study
abroad, then summer is a great time to start! *CU Abroad
101* is an introductory study abroad presentation that covers
key information like program types, academic credit, financial
aid, eligibility, timelines, etc. in 30 minutes. Once you've
attended CU Abroad 101, you'll be prepared to sit down one-on-one
with one of our advisors. Normally scheduled throughout
the fall and spring semesters, we wanted to give summer
students a chance while campus activity is less hectic.
Use the calm of summer to get jumpstarted on the study abroad
process!

>> The deadline for the 2009 Leonard Marks Foundation
Essay Contest for Creative Thought and Writing on American
Foreign Policy is fast approaching! The contest, sponsored
by the American Academy of Diplomacy, is open to any American
citizen who is enrolled during the Spring Semester of 2009
either as an undergraduate degree student majoring in a
field related to international affairs or as a graduate
student in an advanced degree program related to international
affairs. Participants in the contest must submit an essay
of no more than 1,500 words on any one of the five current
challenges for American diplomacy listed on the Academy's
website (http://www.academyofdiplomacy.org/programs/marks.html),
and propose a policy course to address that challenge over
the next one to three years. Two prizes will be awarded
this year; the first prize winner will be awarded $8,000
and the second prize winner will be awarded $5,000. The

>> The Summer Translation Institute (STI),
hosted by the Department of Foreign Languages at Western
Michigan University, offers a unique opportunity for advanced
language learners and professionals to improve their translation
skills while working on their language proficiency. This
program provides intensive translation training in Japanese,
Arabic, Chinese and French. The STI will take place during
the first four weeks of Summer II 2009 (June 25, Thursday
- July 24, Friday). The deadline for initial consideration
