CONGRATULATIONS CHI OMEGA AND PIKE FOR RECEIVING 3rd PLACE IN GREEK WEEK and 1st PLACE IN SONGFEST 2007!

Hi everyone! Greek Week is a fun filled week of intra-Greek activities and competition. Each sorority is paired up with a fraternity for the week. Competitions include: volleyball, kickball, footbrawl, banner competition, karaoke night, and Songfest. Songfest is the most well renowned aspect of Greek Week. Each house picks a wild and crazy theme to choreograph and dance to. It’s a blast and if you aren’t participating (though you’re crazy not to) you should definitely consider being a spectator/cheerleader. GO CHI-O!This year (in 2008) Chi-O is paired with Sigma Pi and the week long theme for Greek Week this year in Nickelodeon

Thanks for all of your hard work!

Dear Mr. Hoots:

Dear Mr. Hoots:

I have never done Greek Week before and am not really sure what it’s all about. Could you please help?!

Truly Yours,
Clueless

Dear Clueless:

Great! I am so glad you asked! Greek week is an entire week of intra-Greek related competitions. Each sorority is paired up with a fraternity (or two in our case) for the week in order to compete in various competitions. These competitions include: football, kickball, volleyball, songfest, banner contest, social even, etc… Each team gets points for participation but they get even more for placing in an event. Then at the end of the week, after the songfest performances are completed they will tally up all the points and announce the winner of the week! It’s so important to keep up our Chi-O reputation and I wouldn’t want us to do poorly in Greek Week because of lack of participation! It really is a great honor to win and we would love your help!

Hope that helped,

Mr. Hoots

Dear Mr. Hoots:

I don’t sing! No one would want to hear me sing so why does Sarah keep bugging me about songfest! Please make her stop! Help!!!

Tone Deaf

Dear Tone Deaf:

I don’t sing either but I still had a blast with Songfest. Despite the name, it doesn’t really have anything to do with singing. It actually is a bunch of choreographed dances to a common theme. This year our theme happens to be ‘Supermodel’, so all of the participants are dancing to five different songs about supermodels. On top of that they are acting as supermodels, which is pretty fun. Can’t dance either? It’s okay still come and check it out! You could always go in the back if you can’t dance or have a little stage fright! Please don’t forget that you get points for participation though! Mega bonus! Plus, it really is a TON of fun, just ask any of the girls that did it last year! So come on! I’ll see you at practice!

Truly yours,

Mr. Hoots

Dear Mr. Hoots:

I had 3 tests, a bio lab, 10 papers, my boyfriend and I broke up, and I lost my favorite shirt, but what makes me even more bummed is the fact that I can’t be in Songfest. I know how fun it is and it was the one light of hope at the end of this long dark tunnel! What am I ever going to do?!

Cordially,
Bogged Down

Dear Bogged Down:

Oh gosh! What a rough time you’ve been having, but trust me we ALL know the feeling. Think of me as your fairy godmother when I tell you that IT”S NOT TOO LATE TO JOIN!!! It really isn’t! You’ll have to start coming to all the practices like everyone else and maybe ask someone to stay and work on the dances with you but we still would love to have you and hope you still want to be in it! So please come and don’t be shy! The more the merrier!
