Where's the snow? The image above from the archives is proof that CU-Boulder does typically get snow this time of year. In fact, the campus can be stunningly beautiful when covered in a cloak of snow with the Colorado blue skies above it. We're hoping that we'll all be able to see this sometime this winter -- as well as get some moisture on the ground.

Grad Student Feature of the Month- Josh Kearns
Josh Kearns has a passion for water, people and bringing them together. Josh is the founder and director of science for Aqueous Solutions, an international non-profit organization that develops and implements inexpensive and appropriate technologies in water resources for developing communities.
His work in the Environmental Engineering program at CU-Boulder has advanced his understanding of simple water purification systems using low-cost, local materials like charcoals.
Josh's approach uses both local people's knowledge of their area and Josh's science savvy to create natural, ecologically sustainable ways to provide safe drinking water and ecological sanitation systems in places like Thailand.

Applications are now being accepted for the Beverly Sears Graduate Student Grants. These grants support the research, scholarship and creative work of graduate students from all departments, and they range from $100 to a maximum of $1,000 per proposal. Visit the grant website for guidelines and tips for applying. The deadline is Friday, December 21, 2012 at 12:00 pm.

Please encourage Undergrads
Encourage the undergraduate students that you work with or teach to submit paper proposals for CU-Boulder's 4th Annual Undergraduate Conference on Diversity to be held on February 21, 2013. The conference will be focused on ways to promote an inclusive dynamic, and proposals are welcome from any genre or discipline. The proposal deadline is December 15, and more information can be found on the conference website.

InterVarsity's Graduate Christian Fellowship (GCF) at CU is an interdenominational Christian ministry that is committed specifically to helping CU grad students thrive.
