Mission Statement

The mission of the GLBT Resource Center is to promote equal opportunity for successful academic, social and personal development for all GLBT students, staff, faculty and their allies in a safe and supportive environment. 

Our History

In early 1993, the Chancellor's Task Force on Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Issues studied the climate for lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, and transgender individuals revealing that the university was a hostile and intimidating environment.

The Task Force therefore recommended that the University develop more effective support services for lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, and transgender individuals and that the creation of the Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Resource Center was needed to serve as the focal point of coordinated service for GLBT groups on and off-campus.

In March 1995, the Center formally opened its doors to the CU community. The center is dedicated to education, outreach, information referral and dissemination, advocacy for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender (GLBT) issues.

Although the Center's focus is on Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender issues, we recognize the importance of advocating on behalf of other under-represented communities. We also recognize the importance of addressing issues of injustice and the inter-connections of discrimination on the basis of race, class, gender, ability, age and other issues.
