The media arts division is a world class, progressive, future-oriented graduate program which emphasizes creative work, research, and teaching. The division provides a thorough grounding in traditional media as well as interdisciplinary studies, and non-traditional media, materials, and techniques. Photography, video, and digital arts are the core media, but courses are taught in performance and installation, book making, history, and critical theory, to optimize personal growth, skills acquisition, and creative expression. In collaboration with the Film Studies department, the Department of Art & Art History also offers a Filmmaking MFA track.
