Executive Committee Meeting
Monday, October 4, 2004
Guests: Randall Draper, Director of The Office of Contracts and Grants
Sanjai Bhagat, UBAB
There are still a number of committees in need of chairs; Bintliff proposed that the BFA ByLaws Committee respond to the committee membership situation, the number of committees, committee structure, quorum and proxy rules, and committee and subcommittee rules in its process of reviewing and revising the Bylaws.
Randall Draper, Director of the Office of Contracts and Grants used the analogy “to serve and protect” to describe how he views the role of OCG on campus. His goals include strengthening an already excellent organization with plans for internal trainings to establish basic information for OCG staff, increase external trainings for faculty and staff who work with sponsored research, and conduct outreach by meeting with chairs and directors and faculty across campus.
Sanjai Bhagat showed that health care premiums in several areas have decreased significantly for 2004-05 due to a significant increase in employer contributions and very aggressive negotiations with vendors with price and quality of health care as the primary issues.
