The Boulder Faculty Assembly Awards for Excellence in Teaching, 2005

The Boulder Faculty Assembly is pleased to announce that up to four (4) awards for excellence in teaching will be awarded for spring 2005. Each award will be in the amount of $3,000. Emphasis will be on actual classroom teaching for all four awards.

NOMINATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Nominations should not be "recycled" from the past, but rather should be prepared for this award cycle. Nominating folders must contain the following materials in the following order:

  • A cover letter from the person nominating the faculty member. If several people are nominating the faculty member they should jointly prepare one cover letter and cosign it.
  • 3 to 6 testimonial letters from faculty members. Letters may be prepared and jointly signed by more than one faculty member.
  • 3 to 6 testimonial letters from students currently enrolled at UCB. Testimonial letters should not be submitted by students currently enrolled in the nominee's classes to avoid possible conflicts of interest.
  • The official FCQ summary of course and instructor ratings from the nominee's student course evaluations.
  • A sample of no more than 10 individual FCQs.
  • The candidate's curriculum vita.

Other supporting materials relating to the nominee's excellence as a teacher may be included if appropriate but must follow the items on the list above.

Nominees will be from regular faculty, (i.e. members of the Boulder Campus Faculty Senate) teaching in any semester or term in the academic year, including instructors, and are solicited from departments as well as individual faculty members.

They also may be self-nominated.

The award will not be given to the same person in successive years.

Address nominations and supporting materials to the BFA Teaching Awards Committee and send them to Campus Box 46, or deliver them to Regent Hall room 1B57. Please contact Martha Shernick at 2-6271 or Martha.Shernick@Colorado.edu with any questions.

The deadline for submission of all nomination materials is
Monday, February 21, 2005.

A recognition ceremony for award recipients will be held in April.
