The Boulder Faculty Assembly Awards for Excellence in
Service, 2005

The Boulder Faculty Assembly is pleased to announce that up to four (4) awards for excellence in service will be awarded for spring 2005. Each award will be in the amount of $3,000.

Faculty service is defined as all of those professional activities other than teaching and research that are performed by faculty members as part of their University and departmental responsibilities or as community outreach (internal, external, or both kinds of service). This may include such activities as:

  • Committee work (department, campus, and university)
  • Faculty governance
  • Student advising
  • Service in state or national professional organizations
  • Volunteer work with public and non-profit organizations

NOMINATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Nominations should not be "recycled" from the past, but rather should be prepared for this award cycle. Nominating folders must contain the following materials in the following order:

  • A cover letter from the person nominating the faculty member. If several people are nominating the faculty member they should jointly prepare one cover letter and cosign it.
  • 3 to 6 supporting letters.
  • A statement written by the candidate on his or her service philosophy.
  • The candidate's curriculum vita.

Supporting letters may be from CU faculty members and administrators, alumni, students, and others inside or outside CU having knowledge of the nominee's service contributions.

Other supporting materials may be included if appropriate but must follow the items on the list above.

Nominees will be from regular faculty, including instructors, and are solicited
from departments as well as individual faculty members.
They also may be self nominated.
Nominators are advised to present the names of only those colleagues
who will be on campus during the spring semester 2005.
The award will not be given to the same person in successive years.

Address nominations and supporting materials to the BFA Service Awards Committee and send to Campus Box 46, or deliver them to Regent Hall room 1B57. Please contact Martha Shernick at 2-6271 or Martha.Shernick@Colorado.edu with any questions.

The deadline for submission of all nomination materials is
Monday, February 21, 2005.

A recognition ceremony for award recipients will be held in April.
