The Boulder Faculty Assembly Awards for Excellence in Teaching, 2013
The purpose of these awards is to recognize faculty for excellence in teaching and for their strong commitment to the teaching mission of the university.
Nominating packets must contain the following materials in the following order:
A cover letter from the person nominating the faculty member. If several people are nominating the faculty member they should jointly prepare one cover letter and cosign it.
2 testimonial letters from faculty members. Submit signed letters if at all possible.
2 to 3 testimonial letters from students currently enrolled at, or graduated within the last two years from, UCB. Testimonial letters should describe the effect the candidate has had on the student’s learning. Letters should not be submitted by students currently enrolled in the nominee's classes (if possible) to avoid possible conflicts of interest. Students’ testimonial letters should not be addressed to the nominee, but may be addressed to the nominator or to the selection committee.
Evidence of the candidate’s teaching effectiveness or innovation. Examples of relevant criteria include:
The candidate's curriculum vitae.
(Other supporting materials relating to the nominee's excellence as a teacher may be included if appropriate but must follow the items on the list above.)
Nominees will be members of the Boulder Campus Faculty Senate teaching in any semester or term in the academic year, including instructors, with a minimum of five years of teaching experience. Nominations are solicited from departments as well as from individual faculty members.
Teaching Awards will not be given twice to the same person. Nominators are encouraged to visit www.Colorado.edu/BFA/archives/pastawards.html to determine whether potential nominees have received the award previously and are therefore not eligible to be nominated.
The deadline for receipt of complete nomination packets is Friday, FEBRUARY 14, 2014.
Please contact BFA Chair Paul Chinowsky at 303-735-1063 or email@example.com with any questions.
Nomination packets should be delivered in electronic form as a single pdf file. Only complete packets will be accepted. Packets should be e-mailed to Carmen Grace, Chair of the BFA Excellence Awards Selection Committee, at Carmen.firstname.lastname@example.org;
