Motion #1 

Whereas faculty on the Boulder campus have expressed wide-spread and deep-seated dissatisfaction with the current FCQ and it use, and whereas the Board of Regents requires the use of a course evaluation instrument but does not mandate the specific content of the instrument, be it resolved that: 

The Boulder Faculty Assembly call upon the Chancellor’s office to replace the current Faculty Course Questionnaire. 

Motion #2

Whereas faculty on the Boulder campus have expressed wide-spread and deep-seated dissatisfaction with the current FCQ and its use,and whereas the Board of Regents requires the use of a course evaluation instrument but does not mandate the specific content of the instrument, and whereas the BFA Ad Hoc Committee to Review Faculty Course Questionnaires has worked with the Center for Educational Development and Assessment and has incorporated student input in the design of an alternative questionnaire, be it resolved that: 

The Boulder Faculty Assembly approve in principle the set of questions included in appendix A of the Ad Hoc committee’s report and call upon the Chancellor’s office to use these questions to design a reliable and valid FCQ. 

Motion #3 

Whereas faculty on the Boulder campus have expressed wide-spread and deep-seated dissatisfaction with the current FCQ and its use,and whereas there is no clear and consistent administrative policy defining who has access to the narrative portion of the FCQ,and whereas there is no clear and consistent administrative policy defining how the summative information is used in performance evaluations, be it resolved that: 

The Boulder Faculty Assembly call upon the Chancellor’s office to work in conjunction with representatives of the BFA to develop a clear, readily available policy statement that 1) asserts the confidentiality of the narrative portion of the FCQ, and 2) outlines how the summative information derived from the FCQ is used in the evaluation of faculty.
