Motion BFA-M-13-1102: In Support of "Quality for Colorado"

Whereas,

The University of Colorado System has become a major educational institution of higher learning in the United States.

Whereas,

The University of Colorado System is also a major research institution in the United States as evidenced by the exceptionally high level of federal and state grant and contract funding which places it among the top three or four public research institutions in the United States.

Whereas,

The faculty of the University of Colorado System is committed to continue improving the quality of education at the institution.

Whereas,

Funds are required to continue to improve the quality of education at the institution.

Whereas,

The preparedness of the incoming students in the University of Colorado has continued to improve as evidenced by the higher average admission test scores of the freshman class.

Whereas,

The principles of the "Quality for Colorado" program will provide additional funds by increasing tuition, will enhance the quality of the student body by establishing enrollment limits commensurate with the current academic and physical resources of the Boulder campus, and will promote diversity within the student population by providing additional financial aid for qualified students based on need.

Let it be resolved,

The Boulder Faculty Assembly strongly supports the concept of "Quality for Colorado" within the Vision 2010 program of President Hoffman.

The Boulder Faculty Assembly forwards this motion to Faculty Council for its support.
