Undergraduate Program Overview
Ethnic Studies is an established undergraduate degree program. It promotes interdisciplinary research and teaching in each of its concentrations. (Asian American Studies, American Indian Studies, Chicano/a Studies, Ethnic Studies, comparative studies, and African American Studies) As an ethnic studies major, each student chooses a concentration in which to focus their study. Each student will also become familiar with at least one of the other concentrations not their primary focus. In addition to developing skills in oral and written expression, research, design, and critical thinking, the department also seeks to empower students by giving them a voice through participatory, experiential, diverse student-centered learning. All students are encouraged to look at their inherited political/social/cultural positions in society, and create a new social reality in the ever-changing global society that is our Earth. Completion of the program leads to a B.A. in Ethnic Studies.
