Not only did Nelson Mandela play a pivotal role in ending apartheid in South Africa, but he also inspired freedom struggles worldwide. Professor Reiland Rabaka discusses Mandela’s tremendous legacy in a Denver Post article.
"For a whole generation of us," Rabaka said, "Mandela and the anti-apartheid movement was the major galvanizing force of the post-civil-rights movement."
"He's an icon for all of us,” Rabaka concludes. "He's not just a symbol for the African people. He's a symbol for our humanity in the 21st century."
