ACRONYM

Alliance for Technology, Learning, and Society. Supports research/teaching across campus that integrates information and communication technology with other disciplines. Director: John Bennett,

ATLAS

Center for Asian Studies. Brings together scholars across campus who work on Asian Studies. Director: Laurel Rodd, Asian Languages and Civilizations.

CAS

Center for British and Irish Studies.  Brings together scholars across campus who work on British and Irish Studies, including British colonies and former colonies (though not the U.S., usually). Director: Jill Heydt-Stevenson, English/Humanities.

CBIS

Center for Humanities and the Arts.  Sponsors programs, grants, a seminar, and events in Humanities and the Arts.  Director: Michael Zimmerman, Philosophy.

CHA

Center for Medieval and Early Modern Studies. Sponsors events in global culture, ca. 400-1800 C.E.  Director: Elizabeth Robertson, English.

CMEMS

Council on Research and Creative Work.  Grant-giving committee administered by the Graduate School.  Gives money campus-wide.

CRCW

Dean’s Fund for Excellence.  Grant-giving committee administered by the College of Arts and Sciences.  Gives money to faculty within the College.

DFE

Diversity and Equity Office. Administers IMPART grants and Big 12 Faculty Fellowships.

Graduate Committee on Arts and Humanities. Grant-giving committee administered jointly by the Graduate School and the Center for Humanities and the Arts.  Gives money to projects in the humanities and the arts. 

GCAH

Innovative Seed Grants. Sponsored by the Graduate School for research with an interdisciplinary slant. Awarded across campus.

IMPART.  Administered by the Office of Diversity and Equity.  Gives money across campus to programs/faculty for multicultural events and research.

IMPART

Information Technology Services.  The central office for computing, telephones, and classroom media.

ITS

Innovative Seed Grants. Sponsored by the Graduate School; support research with an interdisciplinary slant. Awarded across campus.

Institute for Ethical and Civic Engagement. Coordinated by the Vice Chancellor for Undergraduate Education; primarily devoted to undergraduate training and events.  Director: Michael Grant, Vice Chancellor for Undergraduate Education.

ICEE

Jewish Studies Program. Brings together scholars across campus who work in Jewish Studies. Director: David Shneer, History.

Kayden Awards. Funding for costs related to publishing research and creative work in the Humanities and Arts; also administers a book prize.

Newberry Library Center for Renaissance Studies.  Grants administered through CHA (see above).  A consortium of affiliated institutions who contribute funds for events, and in return receive funds for travel by members’ faculty and students to the library.  Via the Newberry, CU Boulder is also affiliated with the Folger Shakespeare Library.

 

President’s Fund for the Humanities.  Grant-giving committee administered by the CU System (not CU Boulder only).

Service Learning.  Administers programs for student outreach and service in the Denver-Boulder community and beyond.  Director: Martin Bickman, English.

 

Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program.  Funds research collaborations between faculty and undergraduates.  Director, Joan Gabriele.
