News for Econ Majors and Minors

The Economics Department has two undergraduate advisors, Jan Horn and Ken Bonetti. They are your primary advisors on core and major requirements. You'll find Jan in ECON 208 and Ken in ECON 207, across from the main office. To schedule an appointment, click on Undergraduate Advising.

Tutoring:Students have several options for tutoring in their undergraduate Economics courses.
The Economics Department provides a free drop-in tutorial lab. Click here for a schedule. Bring your textbook and homework problems when you come to the lab.
The Student Academic Services Center provides an Economics Specialist to lead group study sessions and do individual tutoring for undergraduate Economics courses. The days and times for the study sessions are posted on SASC Website.
If you prefer individual tutoring, the Economics Department keeps a list of graduate students willing to tutor students. Fees vary and you can pick up the list from the Economics Department office, ECON 212, or click here for the list.

Are you interested in graduating with honors? The Economics Dept. offers a two-semester sequence that gives you the opportunity to write and present an honors thesis in your senior year. To participate, your overall and Econ GPAs should be 3.4 or above. For more information, contact Professor Martin Boileau or Professor Nicholas Flores via e-mail martin.boileau@colorado.edu or nicholas.flores@colorado.edu

SENIORS, are you graduating in 2008? You should schedule an appointment with your advisor to complete a graduation packet in the semester PRIOR to your final semester to ensure that your file is up-to-date and requirements have been completed. Commencement information can be viewed at http://www.colorado.edu/Chancellor/Commencement

Internships: Economics majors have two options for gaining work experience through internships.
The Econ Department offers an internship class in the spring semester (ECON 4939) for 6 credit hours, 3 toward your major and 3 upper division elective credits. Contact Prof. Jane Lillydahl (jane.lillydahl@colorado.edu) during the Nov. registration period regarding internships for spring semester.
Prof. Jay Kaplan also runs a 6-credit internship program via Continuing Education. If you have been accepted for an internship for summer or fall, check spot.colorado.edu/~kaplan/intern/Internship-information.html for information on Jay's program and how to apply for academic credit.
