Requirements for an Undergraduate
Minor in Economics

Required Economics Courses: Minimum of 19 or 20 hours depending on Principles course(s) taken

a. Either Econ 1000 (4 hours) OR Econ 2010 and 2020 (8 hours)
b. Econ 3070 AND at least one of the following: 3080, 3818 or 4808 (6 hours)
c. At least six hours of upper division electives if Econ 2010 & 2020 are completed
OR
at least nine hours of upper division electives if Econ 1000 is completed
All course work applied to the minor must be completed with a grade of C- or better. No pass/fail work may be applied. The grade point average for all minor degree course work must equal 2.00 or higher.

Students will be allowed to apply no more than nine credit hours, including six upper division credit hours, of transfer work toward a minor. If transferred course work includes replacements for Econ 2010, Econ 2020, or Econ 1000 that are less than four credit hours per course, and additional upper division elective will be added to the requirements for a minor.

Students may elect to take the 3000-level Economics courses that are designed for non econ-majors (e.g., Econ 3403, 3535, 3545).

ECON 3070, 3080, 3818, and 4808 all require a prerequisite of Calculus 1. Students may take the following courses to meet this prerequisite: ECON 1088; OR MATH 1081; OR MATH 1300; OR APPM 1350.

Students pursuing an Individually Structured Major or who are pursuing a major in Distributed Studies will not be eligible to earn a minor in Economics.
