In particular, she examines the strategies used by early chartered companies to control opportunistic behavior by managers. She is currently involved in two district projects. The first deals with the evolution of early capital markets and the disturbances caused by the South Sea Bubble. The second examines consumption patterns of Native Americans in the 18th century. She has a book on the North American fur trade and publishes regularly in economic history and business history journals. Her research has been funded by the Social Science Research and Humanities Council of Canada, and the National Science Foundation.
