Tuition, Fees, and Financial Aid

Tuition for the academic year 2005-2006 is approximately $1,675-$3,015 per semester for Colorado residents and $5,975-$10,755 per semester for non-residents, based on credit hours taken. Visit the Bursar's Office Graduate Tuition Rates web site for current tuition and fees.

A number of teaching and research assistantships are available. For exceptional students, several doctoral fellowships are available in addition to teaching and research assistantships. Total stipends, including teaching or research assistantships, range from $6,000 to $12,000 with partial or total tuition waiver, depending on the nature of appointments and qualifications. University-wide Chancellor's Doctoral Fellowships are also available. They offer $15,000 plus tuition, student fees, insurance for an academic year. Early applications are strongly recommended. International graduate students entering the program have been supported by a number of international agencies, including the Agency for International Development, the U.S. Department of State, the Ford and Rockefeller Foundations, American Friends of the Middle East, and the Organization of American States. Some international students receive support from their own governments. International students interested in financial support from international agencies under country and institutional programs or from the U.S. government may obtain pertinent information from the cultural affairs officers at United States embassies. The University of Colorado at Boulder offers a limited number of assistantships and fellowships to some international graduate students after their first year. A limited number of teaching assistantships may be available to first year students on a highly competitive basis.
