Application Procedures

Completed applications contain the following:

Application fee of $50 (domestic) or $70 (international), nonrefundable;
Part I Application for Graduate Admission;
Part II Application for Graduate Admission;
Recommendations. Four letters of recommendation from professors and/or other professionals familiar with you and your work. Recommendation forms should be sent directly to the Department of Economics.
Academic transcripts of undergraduate and graduate courses. (Foreign language transcripts must be accompanied by English translations.)
Graduate Record Examination. Applicants are required to take the Aptitude (verbal, quantitative, and analytical) Graduate Record Examination. When applying for the GRE, request that official scores be forwarded directly to the Department.
Financial support statement for international applicants.
Evidence of English proficiency for international applicants (minimum TOEFL score of 525 or acceptable substitute).

The University deadline for international applications is December 1 for the following Fall semester. The Department encourages international applicants to comply with this deadline. Late applications may be considered. However, they may also be at a disadvantage with respect to the award of financial aid. There is no deadline for U.S. applicants; however, those students who wish to be considered for financial assistance should apply by February 1. Students must begin the program in a Fall semester.
