Shared Living and Learning Experiences
Residential Academic Programs provide undergraduates with shared learning and living experiences and a sense of community. Being a participant in the ELLC Leadership Studies Program you can look forward to:
- Taking selected courses at your residence hall
- Connecting with students who share your interests
- Educational and co-curricular activities designed to complement your coursework
- The chance to grow and develop personally and academically in a small group setting
About living on the ELLC Floor
The floor reserved for ELLC students provides a living and learning space where you are surrounded by other participants in the program. This environment helps develop and strengthen the students sense of community. Living in this setting, community members are bound together in their commitment to a just, common good through shared experiences in a spirit of caring and social responsibility. Students who wish to participate in the ELLC, but do not reside on the program floor may take classes if space is available. Priority is given to students who reside on the ELLC floor.
Residential Academic Program Community Values and Expectations
Appropriately, leaders are held to a higher standard of expectations since they model the way and appeal to our higher nature. We expect our participants to behave ethically and be accountable for their behavior inside and outside the classroom. As a “living and learning” community we are committed to fully realizing the human potential for all our members. We believe our faculty, staff and students have a right to pursue their lives in a community of mutual respect and civility. Moreover, we expect them to be able to do so in a safe environment that values diversity. Finally, students in the program should be prepared to explore their privileges and the corresponding responsibilities of this privilege in serving the broader society.
