Welcome to this class...

Dialogue and deliberation are cornerstones of an engaged civic life. This course will engage you in exploring models for dialogue and deliberation across contexts through course readings, guest presentations by civic leaders, and hands-on class experience.

As a space for civic engagement in action, the course provides an opportunity for you to develop and implement a dialogue/deliberation project on a matter of civic interest to members of the class over the course of the semester.

You can expect a dynamic, engaged class experience that bridges theory and practice both in and out of the classroom.

I expect each of you to be active and engaged participants in your own learning and look forward to exploring today's compelling issues with you this semester.
