Department Policies
Office Hours
Services Available
Every graduate student has a mailbox in the department office. Please
check yours regularly, as well as the graduate bulletin board in the
hall. Please do not leave items in your mailbox for students to pick
up, but leave them with Ms. Arnt in the department office.
Supplies
All departmental supplies are for official use by the Classics faculty
and staff only. Graduate Teaching Assistants have access to supplies
necessary for their instructional activities, but they must first receive
approval from the office staff.
Computers
Graduate students have access to the computers, printer, and scanner
housed in the Classics Student Office (HUMN 330) during hours when the
building is open. The Department licenses the TLG and PHI CD-ROMs which
can be searched. It is also possible to gain access to e-mail, the Norlin
catalog (Chinook), and Internet resources in this office.
Photocopying
Photocopying is one of the Department's most expensive budget
items: please make necessary copies only and remember to enter all copies
in the log. There is no charge to faculty or staff for instructional
or administrative photocopying. Faculty are billed for all other copying.
Graduate students are not permitted to use the Department's copier for
personal use or for work in courses in which they are enrolled.
Reading Room (HUMN 350)
This room is available for study when the building is open and the
room is not otherwise occupied for department functions. Books in the
Reading Room do not circulate. The Department would like to build a basic
research collection of texts, commentaries, and reference works. Contributions
to the Reading Room Fund are welcome.
