CLASSICS DEPARTMENT DISTINGUISHED UNDERGRADUATE FELLOWSHIP
Thanks to a generous donation from CU Classics alumna Ann Nichols, the Department of Classics will be able to offer three scholarships for the coming academic year (1999-2000). Two of these, designated Classics Department Distinguished Undergraduate Fellowships, will award $4,000 to the chosen recipients. A third, the Herodotus Travel Grant, will cover $11,000 in expenses from one of the departmentally approved, semester-long study abroad programs. A student may apply for both awards but will be eligible to receive only one. If a student chooses to apply for both, it will be assumed that the travel grant would be preferred.
This form is for the Distinguished Undergraduate Fellowship only. Money from this award will be administered and disbursed through the CU Foundation and may be used to cover tuition and related academic expenses (fees, books, room and board). Both in-state and out-of-state students are welcome to apply. To be considered a student must:
(1) be a current freshman, sophomore or junior in good standing;
(2) be a declared major in Classics;
(3) agree to take at least three courses in Classics in the year during which the award is held.
If you meet the criteria, please fill out the application form below, provide the information requested and return to Professor Noel Lenski by Friday, February 18, 2000.
