Seven Earn Classics Masters DegreesThis May, the Department bids farewell to seven students who have completed the requirements for the MA degree. Renee Afimiwala-Rodgers received her MA in Classical Antiquities, with emphases on Roman history and Roman art and archaeology. Amanda Coles, Scott Farrington, Rachel Hanna, and Scott Speidel all took the degree with a specialization in Latin. A glutton for punishment, Amanda also asked to be examined in Roman History and acquitted herself admirably. Mary France and Kerry McCutcheon received the MA in Classics with an emphasis on Greek. Three of these new graduates are proceeding directly to PhD programs at other universities. Amanda Coles will enter the joint program in Classics and Ancient History at the University of Pennsylvania, Scott Farrington will continue to study Classics at New York University (in a town which we understand just may be able to offer him something in connection with his secret life as a playwright), and Rachel Hanna will join the Ph.D. program in Classics at the University of Washington. Good luck to all of you! We miss you already and hope you'll stay in touch. |
