CLAS / HIST 4091
/ 5091
Preparation for Final Exam: Monday December 17, 2007: 1:30 am - 4:00 pm in HUMN
250
(Bring Blue Book or Paper)
As with the previous exams,
the final will consist of three parts:
identifications, multiple choice and essays.
NB -The ID’s and multiple choice portion of the final will cover
material from the last two thirds of the class (Wed. Sept. 26 – Wed. Dec. 12 on your syllabus)
-The
essay portion of the final will cover material only from the last third of
class (Reading Guides 8-12, Nov. 9 –
Dec. 7 on your syllabus)
Identifications
The identifications will be
taken only from the list offered below.
There will be seven questions taken from this list of fourteen. You should be prepared to give three or four
sentences (or 6-8 bullet points) which include all important information:
names, dates, places, major trends etc. The more information you can give, the
more likely you are to get full credit.

Multiple Choice
These questions will be on
factual information taken from the lectures.
Use your textbook and sourcebook to help you flesh out the lecture
outlines in cases of ambiguity. All the
material in these questions will have been treated in lectures. Anything in your textbook or sourcebook that
was not covered in lecture will not be on the multiple choice.
NB Remember to study only material from Sept. 26 – Dec. 12 on your syllabus
(Lecture 9 “Five Good Emperors” to Lecture 25 “Roma Aeterna”). There was some confusion on the numbering of
the handouts: There were two HOs with “Lecture 23” at
the head and none with “Lecture 24”. The lecture guides are all in their correct
order on the website.
Essay
There will be only one essay
which will cover material we read for our discussions. The questions will be formulated based on the
reading guides that I have distributed in class. I will offer a choice of three
essay topics from which you will chose one.
This means you must study at least three topics to guarantee you will
get an essay for which you have prepared.
NB This part of the exam will cover only readings since the second midterm
(Reading Guide 8 to Reading Guide 12, Nov. 9 – Dec. 7).
