If you’re
interested in graduate school and employment in the field of bioinformatics,
you should know the following:
Many companies as of 2001 are more interested
in people who have a background and practical experience more to the computer
side of bioinformatics. They feel that
they can teach these computer people the biology behind the field as they
go. A GREAT article to check out
regarding employment is in the Chemistry and Engineering News (aka C&EN)
January 1, 2001 Employment section (p.47-55). It interviews employers like Celera Genomics (who recently
published their sequenced human Genome in Science) and PPGx (a
pharmicogenomics company) and a list of schools, which can also be found below
on this page.
