Academics
Academic Requirements during the freshman year
CLR Service Initative
In the fall semester CLR Service Initiative (SI) students are required to enroll in at least one 3 credit hour class offered by the program. Students planning to work towards the Certificate in the Study and Practice of Leadership are also required to take a one credit hour class, LDSP 1571, Topics in Leadership. They are encouraged to add another course from the CLR fall schedule if so desired. In the spring semester students are required to take one 3 credit hour CLR course. Again, students working towards the certificate are highly recommended to take LDSP 2400 and the field pracitcum during the second semester, but this is not mandatory as they could take it during their sophomore year. Most CLR courses fulfill core requirements in a variety of disciplines. Classes are limited to 25 students.
CLR Ethnic Living and Learning Community
In the fall semester CLR Ethnic Living and Learning Community (ELLC) students are required to take LDSP 1000, and the ELLC practicum. They can add another course from the CLR fall schedule of courses at will. During the spring semester ELLC students will continue their first year program with LDSP 2400, Understanding Privilege and Oppression in Contemporary Society and the practicum. Again we encourage students to take one additional 3 credit class with the program. Most courses fulfill core requirements. Classes are limited to 25 students.
