VPN Installation for Windows Vista

Before you Install the VPN client:

1. Download the client here (if you have not done so already).

Note: You will need to use your CU Login Name and IdentiKey password to download the client.

VPN Installation

1. After clicking on the download link above, you need to type in your CU Login name and IdentiKey Password to access the file. Click the OK button when you have entered the required information.

2. The computer will ask you if you want to run or save the file. Click Run.

3. A Security Dialog window will pop up. The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software? Click Run and continue with the installer.

4. A download progress window will open, showing you the percentage of the download complete. The program should open when the download is complete. If it doesn't, click the Open button.

5. The Welcome screen will appear when the installer starts. Click Next.

6. The next window is the License Agreement. Click I accept the license agreement, and then click Next.

7. The next window is the destination folder where the CU Cisco VPN will be installed. The default location is in your "Program Files" folder. Click Next.

8. A progress window will appear. You can view the current progress, or if necessary, hit the Cancel button.

9. When the VPN Client has finished installing, you will see this screen. Click Finish.

10. In order to complete the installation, you need to restart your computer. You must do this before you can use the VPN client. Click the Yes button. (Note: Be sure all other programs have been closed and/or files saved).

11. After Windows restarts, the VPN client will be completely installed.  Remember to delete the installer file you downloaded to setup VPN so you don't accidentally run the installer again.

12. Now that you are done, make sure that your antivirus software is enabled again, or that the CUantivirus (eTrust) snooze has turned off.

Troubleshooting VPN Installation on Vista

If you are having problems installing the VPN client, you may want to try these troubleshooting actions:

  • Set your antivirus program to snooze. Click here to learn how to do this on CUantivirus.
  • If you have set Internet Connection Sharing to be enabled (it is disabled by default on Windows Vista), try disabiling it and running the installer again.
