Overview

Through software site licensing, ITS receives bulk discounts on some software. Students are strongly encouraged to own computers while at CU-Boulder. Departments are recommended to maintain a four-year replacement cycle for faculty and staff desktop computers. ITS can advise in software and hardware purchases for all three groups.

ITS Recommends Delaying Upgrade to Windows 7 and Snow Leopard

Question
and Answer
I'm a student. Do I have to buy a brand new computer to bring to campus?

No, students can purchase a used computer, or can bring a computer from home. Check the minimum recommended configurations for used computers to be sure your used computer has what it needs to run email, a web browser, and word processing and spreadsheet applications.
