Daylight Saving Time 2007—Databases: MS SQL Server 2005 and 2000 |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
MS SQL OverviewMicrosoft SQL Server is a database software package. It comes in many sizes, from Express Edition suitable for light use to Enterprise Edition suitable for data-warehousing. A number of applications include the Express Edition during installation and therefore it may be present on machines on which the user didn't explicitly install it. Impact of Daylight Saving Time Change on this TechnologyThere is no impact if the customer applies the Windows DST update and is not running Notification Services. Details: MS SQL Server uses internal timers that work as relative measures from a specific time and therefore are not affected by DST. Other time functions retrieve their information from the Windows API, and will be correct as long as the OS clock is correct. An exception is the Notification Services portion of MS SQL Server 2000 and 2005 which keeps an internal DST table. Remediation Steps for CustomersApply the the Windows DST update, either using Windows Automatic Updates or manually from: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931836.
