Entourage Overview
Entourage is Microsoft’s email and calendering application for Macintosh computers. Entourage is commonly used on and off campus to connect to Exchange servers or to CULink.
Impact of Daylight Saving Time Change on this Technology
Entourage calculates time internally (and independently of the system clock) using Universal Coordinated Time (UCT). Because of this, applying the system update to the Macintosh OS is not sufficient to make Entourage compliant with the 2007 daylight saving time changes and Entourage must be updated as well. It should also be noted that if you are using Entourage with versions of the operating system that do not support the new daylight saving time changes (OS 9.2 and earlier or OS 10.2.8 and earlier) the calendar in Entourage may be inaccurate.
Remediation Steps for Customers
For users of Entourage 2004:
Microsoft addressed the new daylight saving time beginning and ending dates in the 11.3.3 update to Microsoft Office 2004. To check your version of Entourage (and by extension all Office 2004 applications), launch Entourage and select About Entourage
from the Entourage menu. If the version shown is 11.3.3 or higher your version of Entourage is compliant with the new daylight saving time rules. If not, launch Entourage and select Check for Updates from the Help menu. Follow the prompts to update your versions of the Office 2004 applications to at least 11.3.3. This may require that you run the Microsoft update program more than once in order to incrementally update Office. Also be aware that Microsoft releases patches and security updates in new versions and that ITS recommends that you update Office 2004 to the most recent version which is currently 11.3.4.

For users of Entourage X:
Microsoft has indicated that they will not provide an update to Office X applications (including Entourage X) to make them compliant with the new daylight saving time changes. In addition, Entourage X does not support authenticated SMTP mail sending which is a requirement for using CULink. For these reasons, users of Office X are strongly encouraged to upgrade to Office 2004.
