AD Overview

The campus Active Directory (AD) service is a user and computer account information directory for Microsoft Windows systems.  Like the campus LDAP directory service, Active Directory houses information about people and resources associated with the campus.  This service serves as the backbone of Windows 2000/2003 networking on campus.  It is a Microsoft directory service (user identity database) that uses the LDAP directory protocol.

Impact of Daylight Saving Time Change on this Technology

The AD remediation was completed on Feb. 22nd which involved installing the Microsoft OS DST patch on all parent domain controllers (DC11, DC12, DC13, DC14), Exchange mail routing servers (adx1,adx2), and the Exchange Recipient Update Service server (adrus).

Remediation Steps for Customers

Customers will need to update their Windows clients with the latest Microsoft update security patches which includes the DST patch. Exchange server administrators will follow additional steps to apply both the OS DST patch as well as the DST grooming tool for Exchange calendar.
