Troubleshooting Tips

Problems:

Problem:

I can’t get my CUConnect roster to work with CUClickers.

Possible Solution(s):

First, make sure that you read ITS’s documentation about download CUConnect rosters for i>clicker software.

Also, make sure that you have renamed the exported file “Roster.txt” and placed it in your CUClickers course folder. It must be called “Roster.txt” for i>clicker and i>grader software to recognize it.

Problem:

I can’t successfully synchronize the i>clicker remote IDs to my student’s CU Login Names using the Synchronize Web Registrations feature in i>grader.

Possible Solution(s):

You need to make sure that your i>clicker software has the correct  Security Code for Web Registration entered. To do this:

  1. Open i>clicker and click on Your Settings and Preferences.
  2. In the Security Code for Web Registration text field, enter:

    SQLhttp://cuclickers.colorado.edu:8080/IClicker/GetRegistered?c=

  3. Click on Set for Course (or Set for Term on a Mac).

Problem:

A particular i>clicker remote ID does not synchronize to a student’s CU Login Name, but everyone else’s does.

Possible Solution(s):

Make sure that the student has registered his or her i>clicker remote in CUConnect. Click here for remote registration instructions.

If the student has registered, ask him or her to review their registration in CUConnect and verify that the i>clicker remote ID was entered correctly.

Problem:

While using PowerPoint, my instructor remote isn’t working.

Possible Solution(s):

First, PowerPoint has to be the active window for instructor remotes to work.

Also, if you haven’t already you need to designate your remote in the i>clicker software. To do so:

  1. Open i>clicker and click on Your Settings and Preferences.
  2. In the Designated Instructors Remote text field, enter the i>clicker remote’s ID number.
  3. Click on Set for Course (or Set for Term on a Mac)

Problem:

I am trying to integrate CUClickers with CULearn, but am receiving errors in i>clicker.

Possible Solution(s):

First, make sure that WebCT is selected as your Course Management System in Use.  To do this:

  1. Open i>clicker and click on Your Settings and Preferences.
  2. Click on the Course Management System in Use drop-down menu and select WebCT. Do NOT select Blackboard.
  3. Click on Set for Course (or Set for Term on a Mac)

Second, make sure that there is a file called “Class.txt” in your CUClickers course folder. Click here to learn how to use CUClickers and CULearn together.

Problem:

I can’t turn my i>clicker remote on, even though I’ve put new batteries in the device.

Possible Solution(s):

Some older i>clicker devices have a problem with battery spring fatigue. If you believe that your device is experiencing spring fatigue, visit the CU Bookstore or IT Service Center and ask for a new i>clicker spring.
