Claremont-CU Undergraduate Conference on the European Union

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Applications and Abstracts due February 1, 2010; Papers due in March, TBD, 2010

The 2010 Claremont-UC Undergraduate Research Conference on the European Union conference, held on the Scripps College campus in the spring 2010, seeks to enhance US undergraduate training in the knowledge of the European Union and US-European relations. Students whose paper proposals are accepted for the conference will receive two nights of accommodation during the event, and the CEUCE will provide the airfare cost for up to 6 CU undergraduates. Participants are responsible for their other travel costs and arrangements. Papers are required to speak to an element of the European Union, but there are no specific restrictions on subject. Papers should be approximately 3000 words (10-12 pages). Applications and paper abstracts are due February 1, 2010 . Final decisions will be made at the end of February. Papers will be due by a date in March, yet to be determined. Additional details and submission guidelines can be found on the research conference website and above link.

EU Studies Summer Program in Brussels

APPLICATION DEADLINE: MARCH 9, 2009

The EU Center of Excellence's
EU Studies Summer Program in Brussels, is a six-week study program designed to bring US and Canadian undergraduates into direct contact with the EU institutions and policymakers that are building a united Europe. The program includes visits to EU institutions in Brussels, Luxembourg and (new for 2009) Strasbourg, along with numerous guest lectures by EU officials and academic experts. The EUCE is pleased to be able to offer this 12-quarter credit program for a very low program fee of $2750. Applications are due at the EUCE on March 9, 2009. European Union Visitors Program (EUVP)


Application Deadline: March 1, 2009


The European Union Visitors Program (EUVP) invites young, promising leaders from countries outside the European Union to visit Europe to gain a first-hand appreciation of the EU's goals, policies and peoples and to increase mutual understanding between professionals from non-EU countries and their EU counterparts.  Those eligible to participate are government officials (local, state and federal), journalists, trade unionists, educators, officials of non-profit, non-governmental organizations and other professionals aged in their mid-20s to mid-40s with career-related interests in the European Union.
