Outreach Coordinator Position

Cornell University East Asia Program (http://www.einaudi.cornell.edu/eastasia/) seeks qualified candidates to fill a 30 hours/week Outreach Coordinator position.


Job Summary: Initiate and organize K-12 and post-secondary outreach activities. Develop and manage outreach resources. Assist with grant applications and related data collecting and reporting. Prepare and monitor outreach budgets and accounts. Serve as liaison between program and various outreach constituents.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s with 2-3 years relevant experience or equivalent combination. Evidence of ability to produce and disseminate high quality educational resources. Knowledge of and ability to articulate local and national educational standards, outcomes and assessment methods and to work effectively with individuals from a variety of cultures and backgrounds.

Preferred: Master's degree. Experience with an East Asian language/culture. Professional writing experience, including curriculum design; background in international education and familiarity with US Department of Education NRC programs.

Tenure-track Faculty positions in South Asian Studies Programme at National University of Singapore

The South Asian Studies Programme (SASP) in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the National University of Singapore seeks two tenure-track scholars at the Assistant or Associate Professor levels in the following areas:

(a) Urban Studies/ Gender Studies / Development Studies in South Asia

Candidates should have doctoral training in one of the following areas: anthropology, sociology, geography, political economy and literary and cultural studies. Further, they should have strong theoretical and empirical grounding in the area of South Asian gender studies, urban studies and development studies and must show evidence of multi-disciplinary research.

(b) Popular Culture and Cinema in South Asia.

Candidates should have doctoral training in literature, film studies, sociology or cultural studies. Further, they should have strong theoretical and empirical grounding in the area of South Asian popular culture and/or cinema and must show evidence of multi-disciplinary research.

Candidates with overlapping expertise in areas (a) and (b) are particularly welcome. Both appointees would be expected to teach and develop multi-disciplinary undergraduate and graduate modules in relevant areas, supervise postgraduate students and build up the research profile of the South Asian Studies Programme at NUS. For these positions, familiarity with and competence in a relevant South Asian language is essential. Teaching and curriculum development experience would be advantageous.

JAPAN Youth Venture Director

Ashoka (www.ashoka.org) is the world’s largest association of social entrepreneurs — men and women who are creating new institutions and system-changing solutions for the world’s most urgent social problems. Since 1980, Ashoka has pioneered the field of social entrepreneurship, electing and connecting more than 2,000 individuals with system-changing ideas in over 70 countries. 

Ashoka’s Youth Initiative has harnessed the innovations and efforts of Ashoka’s social entrepreneurs in the field of youth development to create the Youth Venture program that is building a movement of young social entrepreneurs.  (See www.youthventure.org) Ashoka believes that young people globally are key to Ashoka’s overall vision of developing a productive, innovative and engaged civil society.  By investing in and building a movement of young social “Venturers” around the world, Ashoka aims to change fundamentally the role of young people in society and to foster in young people the motivation, skills and opportunities to become leaders and social change makers. 

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Japan Information & Culture Center, Embassy of Japan: Cultural Affairs Coordinator

The Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC), Embassy of Japan, is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented individual for the position of Cultural Affairs Coordinator. Among other responsibilities, this position will be responsible for coordinating cultural events held at JICC. Please see below for a complete listing of responsibilities.

The Embassy offers group health insurance coverage, 15 days of paid vacation per year, a number of paid U.S./Japanese holidays, and sick leave. Working hours are from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with weeknight and/or weekend events several times a month (paid overtime). Salary is commensurate with experience.
