LENDING POLICY
Trunks are rented to school districts or individual teachers for $15.00 per week for a single trunk. One trunk may be rented at a time.
Because many of the trunk items are valuable and/or difficult to replace, we request a $50.00 refundable deposit when checking out trunks. While we encourage educators to use the trunks for "hands-on" experiences with students, we request that borrowers take normal care and discuss with students the importance of preserving the artifacts so that others can enjoy and learn from them.
Each trunk comes with an itemized list of its artifacts. Please check these off, then pack the trunks carefully before you return them, so that the items will not be damaged. TEA staff will check to insure that all listed items are included when trucks leave the office and again upon their return. BORROWERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MISSING OR DAMAGED ITEMS. THE $50.00 DEPOSIT WILL BE USED TO REPAIR OR REPLACE DAMAGED OR MISSING ITEMS.
SHIPPING ARTIFACT TRUNKS
Borrowers are responsible for costs involved in transporting trunks. When necessary, trunks will be shipped to the user via UPS--a $5.00 charge per trunk is charged in addition to the weekly rental fee to cover shipment costs. TRUNKS MUST BE RETURNED TO OUR OFFICE VIA UPS OR A SIMILAR COURIER SERVICE, INSURED, WITHIN ONE WEEK. Materials may not be returned by U.S. mail. Persons who do not comply with this rule will be held personally responsible for the full replacement cost of materials lost or damaged in the U.S. mail. In the Colorado Front Range area, TEA will work with educators to facilitate personal pick up and return of matierals in order to mitigate shipping costs.
I have read the lending policy and agree to the terms described. I understand that I am responsible for returning all artifacts and the trunks in good condition.
