The presentation will include such topics as:

  • general software and Web-accessibility principles; accessible HTML and XML design, including the use of Cascading Style Sheets, Scalable Vector Graphics and Document Object Model to resolve inaccessible user-interface issues;
  • authoring tools that create accessible content and are also accessible to users with disabilities;
  • metadata to support searching for and selecting accessible materials for a range of needs;
  • metadata to enable alternate presentation methods and to identify and activate accessibility features;
  • integration of accessible eBooks so that the transference of text books to online media follows the evolving accessible Open eBook standard;
  • interactive elements delivered via technologies such as MPEG4, SMIL, RealVideo, Flash, DirectX, QuickTime, Windows Media and Java Applets;
  • math and science solutions such as MathML, virtual experiments, extended audio description and other access solutions.
