Dr. Lazar's Bio
Dr. Lazar is involved in teaching and research in the area of human-computer interaction - specifically, Web usability, Web accessibility, and public policy in the area of human-computer interaction. He has published five books; the three most recent are Research Methods in Human-Computer Interaction (2010), Universal Usability: Designing Computer Interfaces for Diverse User Populations (ed.) (2007), and Web Usability: A User-Centered Design Approach (2005).

His awards and accomplishments are extensive. They include
- Named winner of a University System of Maryland Regents Faculty Award for Public Service on April 15, 2011.
- Awarded the Dr. Jacob Bolotin Award by the National Federation of the Blind in 2010 for his work in the area of web accessibility. Towson University issued a press release about the Bolotin Award.
- Received the Outstanding Faculty Award from the Fisher College of Science and Mathematics on October 30, 2009.
- His research team won an Innovator of the Year award in 2009 for work on accessible human interaction proofs. Articles about their Accessible CAPTCHA, called HIPUU (the Human Interaction Proof Universally Usable), appeared in the Baltimore Sun TechBlog and the Braille Monitor.
- Were awarded an NSF grant to study how young adults with Down Syndrome can use technology to transition to the workplace (2009).
- Co-author on the paper which won the best paper award at ASSETS 2008.
