There are several good listservs which are sources of information about JFW as well as Graphical User Interfaces. Below are instructions on how to subscribe to five of these listservs, the JFW listserv, the GUIspeak listserv, the JFW Script listserv, the JFWLite Listserv, and the JAVA Accessibility interest mailing list. If you are interested, these are free services available by email where JFW users and other computer users from around the world help each other. Here is how to subscribe. Then, once you send your email, usually within a few minutes or hours, you will receive back confirmation about the fact that you have been added to the listserv and also will receive instructions as to how to unsubscribe, if you wish to do so.

A. JFW listserv.

The JFW listserv is dedicated primarily to JFW questions and answers.

We don't run the list from H-J. It is run by Nick Allan in Australia.

Send an email to:

jfwlist-subscribe@egroups.com

The message should be completely blank, no subject and nothing in the body

of the message. You will receive a response message asking you to confirm

the subscription. Confirm it by replying and again leaving the subject and body blank.

To unsubscribe, the process is exactly the same, except the email address is,

jfwlist-unsubscribe@egroups.com

B. GUIspeak listserv.

GUIspeak is a listserv dedicated to access to the graphical user interface (windows etc.) for persons who are blind or visually impaired. It covers topics which may relate to more than one screen reader.

To subscribe to the GUIspeak mailing list send a message to

listserv@LISTSERV.NODAK.EDU

with this line as the body of your message:

subscribe GUIspeak Jane Doe

(replacing Jane Doe with your full name).

To contact the list owner of GUIspeak send your message to

guispeak-request@LISTSERV.NODAK.EDU.

C. JFW Script Listserv

If you are interested in learning more about scripting or in getting Help with your current scripting efforts, here is some help for you! The following page and list serv information are not affiliated with Henter-Joyce Inc.

A good start is to get the Script Tutorial from the Blind Programming site,

The direct URL to that script tutorial is

http://www.blindprogramming.com/jfw.htm

Then join the JFW Scripts discussion list by sending an

empty message to

jfwscripts-subscribe@egroups.com.

D. JFWLite Listserv

There is a new JFW mailing list, called JFW Lite. This list is geared

toward new users seeking help with JAWS FOR WINDOWS.

To subscribe to JFWLite, send a blank email message to:

JFWLite-subscribe@egroups.com

E. JAVA Accessibility interest mailing list.

If you are interested in subscribing to the Java Accessibility interest mailing list send e-mail to listserv@java.sun.com with "subscribe java-access" in the *body* of the e-mail.
