Midge Korczak Scholarship
Purpose:
The Midge Korczak Scholarship is open to entering freshmen and continuing full-time Arts and Sciences students who meet the following criteria:
- Student must be a resident of Colorado and have lived in Colorado Public, Subsidized or Section 8 housing for at least the two years prior to attending CU. A letter from the landlord or administrator of this housing is required as proof.
- Preference will be given to those meeting the following criteria:
- A past Korczak scholar who maintains a 2.80 or better GPA and competitively reapplies for continuation of the scholarship.
- A demonstrated commitment to the Hispanic community.
- First Generation student to attend college with no parental education beyond high school.
- Students who demonstrate financial need as a result of filing the Free Application for Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA).
One award will be made annually in an amount up to $3,000, renewable upon competitive reapplication for up to five years as long as the recipient remains a full-time student and maintains a minimum GPA of 2.8. The scholarship may be used for tuition costs only.
Donor Biography:
Midge Korczak, who earned B.A. and M.A. degrees at CU-Boulder, served many years as the executive director of the Boulder County Bar Association. She currently sponsors more than 30 youths in the "I Have A Dream Foundation" of Boulder Valley. She encourages and monitors academic, social and recreational needs of each student.

Submit the CU-Boulder Office of Financial Aid Scholarship Application and the Korczak Special Topic Essay online at www.colorado.edu/finaid. The application is available beginning November 1 with a deadline of March 1.
Essay topic: Discuss and describe your involvement and commitment to the Hispanic community.
A letter from your landlord confirming the residency is required. FAFSA required.
