Major in Chinese 2011-2012
The Asian Languages and Civilizations department reserves the right to change major requirements at any time. Please check with the Asian Languages and Civilizations department or the CU Boulder catalog for the most current listing of requirements. You are subject to the requirements in effect at the time you declare your major as an Arts & Sciences degree seeking student.
Students must complete the general requirements of the College of Arts and Sciences and the required courses listed below. CHIN 1010, 1020, and 2110 do not count toward the maximum of 45 credits in the Chinese major.

Chinese Language & Literature Track:
The student must complete 30 credit hours of courses in Chinese language and literature above CHIIN 2110. CHIN 2120 or its equivalent is the prerequisite to upper-division courses required for the major. At least 25 credit hours must be in upper-division courses.

Students may choose 15-17 credit hours from other CHIN or EALC courses, excluding only language courses numbered below 2120. Of these 15-17 credit hours, 6 credit hours may be satisfied by courses focusing wholly or substantially on China offered by other departments, subject to approval by the Chinese undergraduate advisor. |
